I first connected with the great people from American Boston Terrier Rescue over the Christmas holiday when I photographed some of their sweet foster dogs (Joey, Ollie, Bea, Daisy, and Sophie) with Santa as a part of my A Home for Christmas Project. When I was invited to come out to their February fundraising event at City Dog in Addison, TX I eagerly said yes!
Painting with your Pooch
The event was called “Painting with your Pooch” and it was definitely something different. Here’s how it worked. Each dog “painted” their own work of art on a white mat that would be put into a frame when it dried. The center of the mat had a place for a photo and then end result is a really neat piece of artwork to hang and enjoy!
The best part was that the dogs didn’t get any paint on them! By separating the paint from the dog with a layer of parchment paper, the dogs moved the paint around by licking peanut butter and eating treats off of the top of the parchment paper. Easy cleanup and no mess. The dogs really seemed to enjoy it!
What a fun event to photograph! ABTR did an awesome job organizing the event and appreciate them welcoming me. I enjoyed meeting all the adorable Bostons and their people. It was a fun day. I hear this event will likely happen again so I hope to join in the fun next time too!
